An 18-year-old from Candler County is dead after a collision on Interstate 16 in Bulloch County on Thursday night, according to WJCL Savannah.
The station reports that the driver crashed into a tractor-trailer at mile market 112 on I-16 westbound just after 6:30 Thursday night. The 18-year-old was not wearing a seat belt according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Law enforcement officials said there was an earlier crash that had slowed and sometimes halted traffic on the interstate. No injuries were reported in the earlier crash, but the 18-year-old, traveling in a Nissan truck, reportedly passed a tractor-trailer in the right lane before plowing into a tractor-trailer in the left lane.
The man was transported to an area hospital where he died.
Police have not released the name of the deceased.
